Volume 1, Issue 9: 12/15/23

Greetings Bulldogs! Happy Friday!

(Reminder) 2023 Midterm Schedule (MS & HS):

  • Note: All exams are 70 minutes.

  • HS Students who are exempt MUST remain at school during their exam. Failure to do so will result in forfeiting the exemption and having to take the exam in January.

Thorndale High School NHS students helping with Thorndale Cares!

TES PTO Pictures with Santa:

On Wednesday, our amazing TES PTO hosted a night for students and families to come snap a picture with santa and decorate holiday cookies!

Thank you so much to all of our parent volunteers to make this event happen.

And thank you to Santa for giving your time during this busy holiday season! Even the TES staff took advantage of the opportunity.

TISD Art Students Decorating Around Town:

If you see any windows painted for the holiday season around town or across our campuses, chances are good it was our advanced art students led by Mrs. Lanahan! These kids are awesome and they really put our community into the holiday spirit!

Thorndale Elementary Student Council Christmas Caroling:

TES Student Council went to sing at the Nursing Home in Rockdale.

Band Elementary Christmas Concert:

Our middle & high school bands sounding amazing at their Christmast concert Monday night in the HS Gym.

Elementary UIL Traveled to Hearne:

Our elementary took a large group of kiddos to Hearne to compete in the annual Elementary School UIL competition. Congratulations to all of our participants and their sponsors and we look forward to the final results being posted in the near future.

Boys Win the Tournement!

Last week our Varsity and JV basketball teams hosted tournaments here in Thorndale. Both teams represented our home courts well as champions of their tournaments! The varsity final game on Saturday was a nailbitter and a testament to the grit of our team as we defeated A&M Consolidated (JV).

District Facility Committee Meetings:

We just concluded our 4th meeting! TISD - Community Meeting 04 PowerPoint.pdf

This meeting was all about prioritizing wants/needs under the constraints of our bonding capacity. It was NOT EASY, to say the least, because our wants/needs far exceed the financial ability we have, at this time.

Here is a copy of the other presentations:

  1. TISD - Community Meeting 01 PowerPoint.pdf

  2. TISD - Community Meeting 02 PowerPoint.pdf

  3. TISD - Community Meeting 03 PowerPoint.pdf

The work is exciting, hard, and necessary. Stay tuned for more updates!

We are on schedule for our timeline to have the community committee present the committee's work at our January board meeting.

Thorndale Youth League Interest Survey:

At Thorndale Youth Sports League, we're passionate about nurturing the athletic spirit of our community's youth. We believe in creating an environment where every child can flourish and find joy in sports.

To better understand the interests and aspirations of our young athletes, we kindly request your assistance in filling out this form. Your input will play a crucial role in helping us gauge the level of enthusiasm and the variety of sports interests within our community.

This form aims to gather essential information about your child's interest in participating in various sports activities. By sharing this information with us, you contribute significantly to shaping the future of youth sports in Thorndale. If you have multiple children eligible for participation, please complete a separate form for each child. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!
